What size oak wardrobe do I need for my bedroom?

Measure your bedroom carefully before ordering. Allow at least 60cm clearance in front of any wardrobe doors for comfortable opening. As a rough guide: single wardrobes (around 90cm wide) suit small rooms or alongside a partner's wardrobe; double wardrobes (120 to 180cm) work for most main bedrooms; triple wardrobes (180cm+) are ideal where hanging space is the priority. Can oak bedroom furniture be painted?

Yes, solid oak takes paint well if you prepare the surface properly. Sand lightly, apply a shellac or oil-based primer, then your chosen topcoat. That said, we also stock a full range of painted bedroom furniture in ivory, grey, and navy if you want solid wood quality with a factory-painted finish from the start. Our painted ranges use the same joinery construction as our natural oak pieces.

How do I stop oak bedroom furniture from fading in sunlight?

Direct sunlight will gradually lighten oak and can bleach the finish over time. Use curtains or blinds to reduce peak sun exposure. Position wardrobes and drawers away from south and west-facing windows where possible. Regular waxing with a quality furniture wax helps maintain colour and provides some UV protection. Rotating accessories like lamps or mirrors occasionally also prevents uneven fading patterns.

What's the difference between solid oak and oak veneer bedroom furniture?

Solid oak is exactly that: timber all the way through. It can be sanded, repaired, and refinished indefinitely. Oak veneer has a thin layer of real oak over an MDF or particleboard core. Veneer furniture often looks identical to solid oak and is typically lighter and cheaper, but it can't be refinished if damaged deeply, and the edges and corners are more vulnerable.
