Alcohol Ink & Watercolour Artist, Yorkshire
Sarah Stoker is a Yorkshire-based artist whose work captures the raw beauty of the British landscape through a distinctive technique using alcohol inks. Working from her garden studio in Barnsley, she draws inspiration from the woodlands, countryside and ever-changing light that surrounds her.
A semi-finalist on Series 10 of Sky Arts' Landscape Artist of the Year, Sarah's work caught the judges' attention for its mesmerising textures and layered compositions. Her use of alcohol inks on non-porous surfaces creates strikingly organic effects that echo the natural world she paints, with depth that rewards closer inspection.
Sarah studied textiles, surface pattern, ceramics and glass at Barnsley College before specialising in ceramics at Carlisle. She won Young Designer of the Year in 1989 and received a Prince's Trust grant to establish her first studio. Her fine art prints are produced on museum-quality Innova cotton paper using archival pigment inks.
