What colours go with oak living room furniture?

Oak is one of the most versatile furniture materials for colour pairing. Navy, sage green, terracotta, and deep charcoal all work beautifully against natural oak tones. For a lighter feel, cream and warm whites enhance the grain without washing it out. Avoid very cool greys, which can make oak look yellow by comparison. Brass hardware and fittings are a particularly good accent, picking up the warm undertones in the wood.

How much weight can an oak bookcase hold?

Most of our solid oak bookcases support 30 to 50kg per shelf, which is plenty for even a heavy book collection. The exact figure depends on shelf span and thickness. Check individual product specifications, as some ranges use thicker shelving than others. For particularly heavy collections, choose a bookcase with a back panel: this adds rigidity and prevents the unit from racking under load over time.
