Position wardrobes and drawers away from south and west-facing windows where possible. Regular waxing with a quality furniture wax helps maintain colour and provides some UV protection. What's the difference between solid oak and oak veneer bedroom furniture?

Solid oak is exactly that: timber all the way through. It can be sanded, repaired, and refinished indefinitely. Oak veneer has a thin layer of real oak over an MDF or particleboard core. Veneer furniture often looks identical to solid oak and is typically lighter and cheaper, but it can't be refinished if damaged deeply, and the edges and corners are more vulnerable. How long does oak furniture last?

With proper care, oak furniture lasts 50 to 100 years or more. Oak antiques from the 17th and 18th centuries are still functional and beautiful today. Unlike modern disposable furniture, oak is designed to be repaired and refinished rather than replaced.
